Christians Against Poverty
CAP Croydon South
CAP Croydon South provides a range of services in our local community to help free people from debt, poverty and their causes.
Individual churches partner with the national CAP (Christians Against Poverty) organisation. In our community, Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church is the partner church for the CAP Debt Centre.
Purley Baptist hosts the CAP Job Club and Christ Church Purley hosts the CAP Life Skills course. We also regularly run CAP Money courses at various locations throughout the year.
We have another FREE CAP Money course on Saturdays 20 and 27 July and 3 August at Purley Baptist Church. All three dates start at 1.30pm.
It’s an excellent course for anyone wanting a refresher or new skills in handling their finances well.
Book online at capmoney.org or call 07795 655334. All welcome!
If you feel weighed down by debt, then CAP can help.
We’ll visit you in the privacy of your own home to discuss your finances in detail, establish a budget and work towards a real long term solution to your debts.
The Debt Centre provides counselling and practical help and advice. Clients are visited at a time to suit them, and are supported right up until they are debt free.
Call 0800 328 0006 to book an appointment.
If you want friendly, practical support to help you step confidently into employment, come along to our Job Club.
The Job Club is held at Purley Baptist Church on Mondays from 12 to 3pm. It’s an eight-week course, free to join, and is run two or three times a year.
For more information please email Janet Fisher, CAP Job Club Coach at email@example.com
CAP Money is a free course that makes managing your finances simple.
The course comprises three sessions and we hold courses at least three times a year at different venues in the community.
A CAP Life Skills course will help you find new ways to live for a brighter future. For eight weeks you will join a friendly group discovering the skills needed to survive on a low income.
Courses are held at Christ Church Purley on Mondays from 12 – 3pm. They happen two or three times a year, alternating with the Job Club, so you can attend both if you wish.
For more information please email Lola Bejide, CAP Life Skills Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org
How can I help?
There are many opportunities to help with the work of CAP in our community. These include being a befriender to accompany the Debt Centre coach on client visits, being part of the team running Job Club, Life Skills and CAP Money courses, and taking on a role to publicise the services.
Everybody who helps in CAP Croydon South is an unpaid volunteer. The service is free to clients. There are some costs involved, however, so donations are vital to the ongoing work. If you would like to hear more about how you can best support CAP Croydon South, please email Nigel Davidson.
